Introduce Yourself

Meet Others and Say Hello!

My Name Is Millie

My name is Millie. I have read all of the posts on this introduction/forum, and not found any situation like ours. Going to go ahead and introduce myself anyway. We adopted 2 children, bio brother & sister from Kazakhstan in 2005. Boy was 16 and his sister almost 15 (3 weeks to go). We knew it would be tough but had no idea .....

Growing up aware and proud to be adopted.

Hello, my name is Aaron and I was adopted, to Hank and Judy, in the spring of 1973. I am very fortunate, my adopted parents are of the highest character. More importantly, their love is unconditional. This is all an adoptee can ask for. That at no point, never, no matter how mad, you, as a parent, ever give the slightest notion that the thought enters your mind. No matter how fleeting, how momentary, how unintentional, how irrational, your child will know.

Hi my name is Alison

Hi

I am mum to two adopted boys aged 4 and 8 years. My partner and I fostered, them at 3 weeks and 3 and a half years through concurrent planning, before adopting them 2 years ago. My eldest has ADHD and possible Attachment Disorder, not sure which one as "he is a complicated child" according to the professionals and are waiting for psychotherapy to start.

Thank you for this site

hi

Hello, I'm Whitney

My husband and I recently adopted a 14 year-old boy from the foster care system. We also have 2 biological daughters 18, and 20. My son had been in foster care for 10 years and has had some pretty difficult situations to deal with. Right now he seems to be thriving and doing very well.

introducing Lisa

Hello all! I can't believe I have been doing this foster care thing for just over a year and just now found this forum. I look forward to "meeting" you all online.

About myself; I am a single woman with one cat. Since April 08, I have added one teenage foster girl, my (now gone) grandmother's cat, a fiancee and just last weekend a stray cat (because I really needed another cat! - or not).

I am an Orthodox Christian and would not be making it by without the love and support of my parish family.

Hello; I'm AuntDebbie

I have just adopted a 7 year old boy on Sept 15th 2008 and I am the Legal Guardian of his 10 year old sister. I have had the girl for almost 5 years and the boy for almost 4 years. The boy has R.A.D., P.T.S.D., A.D.H.D. and Self Harm. The girl is M.R. and A.D.D. Both are on meds of course. Abilify and VyVanse to be exact. We have been going to therapy once a week for 5 years now and they both see the physc. once a month. But in spite of all this the boy seems to be getting worse instead of better especially since the adoption.

Hello - I'm Joanne

Hello and thank you Matthew for inviting me.

I am a mom to three children, that my husband & I adopted through DCF in Florida in 2003. At the time of the adoption, my kids were 5, 8 and 11....they are now 10, 13 and 16.

I created Forever Parents in 2002. It's a community (we have a blog, a private forum and an adoption store) for parents who've adopted.

I look forward to getting to know all of you.
