Wow - Compassion
My kid has been suffering from bullies over the last few months. She has, in my opinion, been blamed for a few things that she shouldn't have when protecting herself. Her behavior has been pretty erratic, and part of that I think has to do with the perception of not being safe at school. Add to that the stress of the flu scare-well, it has been an interesting couple of months.
Yesterday she came home and was particularly nutty in her behavior. She was refusing to eat supper. Getting angry about doing homework. Very rude and difficult.
My wife and I cuddled up with her after she was tucked into bed and starting asking questions. Turns out that she stood up to a bully that was being really mean to a little kid. She stepped up and told her to stop and when she stepped up it gave other kids the courage to help. She ended up getting punched in the arm pretty hard, but seems to really get that what she did was the right thing.
I am very proud.
