On the blogs, I've written a little about the emotional roller coaster of attaching to a child of trauma.

What kinds of things do you to help form strong bonds with your child or children?

Hand Feeding Sweets

We'll spend time hand feeding with sweet things like gummy bears or red-vines.

We Made Pizzas

Cooking with your kid is a great way to spend time and also take care of a chore. Food that a child makes with you is far more likely to be consumed--so if you have a fussy eater, this can help a lot.

Yesterday afternoon, we found pizza dough at Whole Foods for a few bucks. We rolled out the dough and put our own sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and so on. I baked the pizzas for 15 minutes at 350 F. Then we sat and watched a movie together while we munched on home-made pizza. It was quick, easy, and fun.

Specific Fun nites

I am wanting to implement Friday night as pizza & a movie night. It's something I really enjoyed as a kid and could look forward to all week. I'm thinking it will also give some structure to the house - instead of "what are we eating tonight?" being a concern (she gets the "are we going to eat??" thought in her head), it will be a fun "What movie are we going to watch?" as she knows we'll have pizza. Besides - our little girl is a snuggler when it comes to watching movies.
