This week has been interesting so far.

On monday morning, my kid came running out to me in her pjs and said in a hurried way something like, "Dad, you know when I say mean things to you and it hurts your feelings well I don't really mean any of them and I just get mad sometimes cause I always love you."

I probed, and she explained that when she tells me that "You're mean", "I hate you", "I don't love you" that she doesn't mean it.

Yesterday she told her mother that she had done her homework and it was in her bag prior to going to her dance class-dance is predicated on getting her homework done and bringing it home to be checked-but it turned out to be an untruth. Without ANY pressing she admitted that it was at school and completed, but she had copied the answers from another kid's paper.

Now the cheating sucks, but the way I see it we had two big wins so far this week.

First, she recognizes that she is attached and loves us.
Second, the kid who would normally fib about the color of her socks came out with a truth she could have easily kept hidden.

I'm feeling pretty good about this week so far.

4 days and pretty much no

4 days and pretty much no blow ups - and the problems have all been small. Knock on wood!
