Histories
Recently I was talking to my kid's therapist and we were talking about history. We were going through my kid's history and it affected me in a visceral way. I had always known basically what had happened to her before we fostered her, but I had never turned it into a timeline. It was a little shocking.
When you are feeling worn out and worn thin because your child is behaving badly, take a minute if you have his or her history documented. Write it down, look at what happened and when. You might understand a little better.
Be compassionate.

We have used lifebooks in a similar way. I can imagin it would have a different kind of impact on you though.
Lifebooks are really supposed to be a celebration and embracing and validation of a child's past. They serve a different purpose than documenting a history I think.
