From Fear to Love - Parenting Difficult Adopted Children
A few weeks back, I wrote a review on "The Great Behavior Breakdown". The Post Institute sent a second book for me to look at called "From Fear To Love". My previous post covered each of the chapters and what was discussed in those chapters. This post will be a little different.
"From Fear To Love" is set up much like a workbook. It has short chapters with a bullet style synopsis of the concepts of each chapter laid out at the end. The writing is simple to understand - each chapter shouldn't take much time to read. Each chapter provides solid advice on how to deal with the different manifestations of trauma. Post goes into techniques to manager these different behaviors.
I was a little disappointed at how much of the material in this book is identical to the "The Great Behavior Breakdown", including the anecdotes Post uses to explain concepts. The context is a little bit different than "The Great Behaviour Breakdown" but a parent could probably get by reading just one of these two books.
That all said, I can strongly recommend this book. It nails how a Child of Trauma behaves and provides solid advice on how to deal with the undesirable fallout.
