We had a fun morning today. We woke up to find that our kid had eaten a whole bottle of children's chewables. The risk in eating too many multivitamins lies in iron poisoning. Not enough iron is a bad thing--you become anemic--too much is a bad thing as well.
A call to poison control indicated that several bottles of this brand would have to be eaten to be problematic, but now we're faced with locking up the medicine cabinet. I would understand having to do this with a 4 year old, but she is nearly 9 for pete's sake!
A very sober conversation occurred with "Missy" after we'd ruled out any physical issues with poison control. We discussed the issues surrounding consuming medicines in improper ways, but I'm not sure it really got through to her.
This is an extension of the food hoarding that has been going on since we started fostering her.
I am feeling frustrated.
